To appear more professional, honest and trustworthy perhaps you should say up front that you design websites free on a trial basis. However, this is only my opinion, and may not be the opinion of others.

Actually I meant that I would design the site for free. Not on a trial basis. But on second thought you are right. I would not be able to service everyone on this basis. Take your Web site for example Jaded. I looked at your HTML source code, very well done. I like your site overall but maybe you could provide a Home page and ease everyone in. Having the shopping cart shown immediately is intimidating but since the ladies in your cart are appealing maybe it generates clicks that lead to income. Good for you. All the best.

Thank you! I sincerely appreciate your input. However, I did try out the homepage concept, but many people did not respond to it very well. I suppose it depends on the type of homepage of which you refer.

I know Mike. I did not mean to put words in your mouth and I apologize if I have offended you. I was simply attempting to refer back to my earlier post to Matt. When Matt first posted his “free” service, I had replied to him; "To appear more professional, honest and trustworthy perhaps you should say up front that you design websites free on a trial basis. However, this is only my opinion, and may not be the opinion of others." Does anyone here know of a good ecommerce web hosting company? The one I am currently using seems to have overextended, as my website is becoming increasingly slow with missing images as well. I would greatly appreciate any ideas. Thanks in advance!

Hi Lori,I did a site that was for a chocolate shop. I used Wix. The site that I did is here at http://www.thesweettooth.us.com/ take a look. I can help people with their sites and point them to extremely cheap tools. But if you take your time and know how to plan out what you are trying to sell, it can look professional. I am a trader, but I really like to design sites!

What exactly did you think design your site means. I could just map out your site in a word doc. I could also help with content. You must take a stake in the process. You cannot get professional help for free and respond with - here's my site. Site design entails many aspects. I am surprised by the response in the forum regarding this proposition. Isn't it clear that people must eventually get paid for their time if you are building a site from top to bottom or even hand coding it?

Once again, design a site for free is extremely open ended and up front but let's not have childish expectations. Obviously design a site has many meanings. If anyone would care to be responsible and actually take part in the effort I would seriously be offering "design" for free. I have not asked anyone for money nor will I unless someone goes beyond design. By the way I do not build Websites for a living.

I am just teasing you Matt. I could not resist teasing you about your quick quote “I will design your site for free!” It was funny. I apologize if I offended you in any way. I must say you are a very professional person. Most people would have been quite nasty about the teasing. You are admirable sir. Now back to this discussion. What do you think of my website (http://www.jadedsecrts.com/), and do you know of a good ecommerce web hosting company that I could check out? My ecommerce host is getting worse daily, and it is really beginning to hurt my business. Any advise-suggestions? By the way, I checked out the chocolate site (http://www.thesweettooth.us.com/), and I must say it looks and feels very professional. Great work!

You are a very diplomatic and decent writer. I am not offended in any way and I believe that your first observation was correct. Offering free anything brings out the worst in people. I'm not really sure how I'll live up to it now LOL. Back to your site. I cannot see why anyone would want to shop for lingerie anywhere else. If you are using CityMax.com to design and build your site, founded on Mezine's technology there pretty good. Mezine's been around since 1999 but why host in CA? Am I correct? Without taking a 10 day demo of CityMax's Web builder, I cannot know from the interior what your ecommerce issues are. Can you tell me? Is it speed? Missing functionality, etc. ? The fact that your site is running quite a large catalog seemlessly is impressive, so their tools must be very decent. What say you Shonda.

For a site that you did yourself I think you have a very good eye. I like the scheme and the colors. I wouldn't change much but I would tweak some of the granular formatting; mainly the alignments where items (where you may have pasted in some javascript or html) are either too close or are not aligned in agreement with nearby items. As far as SEO goes, don't try too hard. How long has your site been up. Do you know how to add metatags. Load your title with your keywords. This has worked for me.

I would add that the Shop link at the top menu of the site takes the user to your Rapid Cart, while another Go Shopping link at the bottom of FAQ page takes the user to a completely different shopping cart / Web site.

I have tried my own lead capture pages without any success. I never like dramatic or hyped capture pages, especially when one is trying to gather marketing data from professionals. The more sleek and clean (lots of white space) offering a free white paper may do the trick, depends on your content and product. I am not much good at marketing but contact me via my website form at www.creativetradingsolutions.com and I will try to help.

First, thank you for your kind remarks Matt. Second, my ecommerce web host does offer many great features at a very reasonable price. You get everything you need to build and operate an online e-store, without any hidden costs or additional add-on fees, therefore I must give them that much at least. However, there are times throughout the day when my website seems slower, updating my catalogs cause error messages to appear, images are missing on the website itself, inner pages load too slowly, adding items to the shopping cart takes too long, and the loss of functionality is an issue at times as well. Some reviews I receive states that my website seems to be loading quickly and operating correctly, while others say it takes too long to load, and images are missing. Any advice or suggestions? Thank you in advance for your time.

The quality of service that you site can be the result of many things but firstly it is probably a matter of bandwidth allocated to the server that you are being hosted on. If that server is hosting multiple sites, your site may be affected although you may not be the traffic hog. Shared hosting is not necessarily the best solutions for such a graphic intensive catalog such as yours. If you pay up, you could move to a dedicated server, or you could move to a Web host that serves up your site in the cloud. Unfortunately these are generic solutions. Since you have developed a relationship with your current host by means of utilizing there all in one solution / shopping cart, you may be stuck with them. It may be a good time to contact them to learn of there other offerings. In that way you could maintain all of the man/women hours spend on building your site and catalog, remain inside their apps and move your service to a faster more powerful shared server or a dedicated server that scales with features. I can tell you more and guide you with additional info if you keep me posted on what you find out regarding your hosts offerings on the service side and if that is within your budget.

The CityMax tech team is going to take a deeper inspection of my website to see if they can discover what might be causing all the issues I’m experiencing, and I’m currently awaiting their reply. I don’t think I have asked you yet, so what’s your “overall” impression of my website?

Again, I am not a pro but considering their tools and what you've done with them, the overall layout and flow and your product, I'd say it's a 9.5. Hope this helps. Glad they will be looking into your issues. It's always best to go to the source and definitely work at the server level. Great.

I like sites about movies. I think they are great if they're done properly. Do you like IMDB.com. You are running a blog site about movies. Have you actually watched all of these movies? What is your goal in running this site? You are linking out a great deal. I would say that the first thing to considering altering about your site is the color scheme. Reading this at 1204 AM EST in the states. It's a bit glaring. It's actually a bit catchy but maybe it's too bright. What is it about your site that you'd like to alter anyway? Are you getting any traffic and if so why? Again, what is your goal?

Thank you very much! I noticed that you changed your username. I apologize if using your actual name was a problem. I just thought that if you already had it out there in the Web, it wouldn't be a problem. Success to you as well, and God Bless You!

Happy DiPavali to all my friends from India. My site actually receives most of it's traffic from the United States and India for some reason. Anyway, here is the definition of Dipavali from Wikipedia. I like the last part of the definition where it mentions victory over evil within one's self. Exteremly important! And without this victory, the destroyer will come to overtake you and defeat you. Happy Dipavali! Diwali or Dîpâvali[1] (Sanskrit: दीपावलि: a row of lamps[2]) is a significant festival in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism, and an official holiday in India.[3] Adherents of these religions celebrate Diwali as the Festival of Lights. They light diyas—cotton string wicks inserted in small clay pots filled with oil—to signify victory of good over the evil within an individual.

Oh, no it is not a problem. With so many odd things and false websites and information floating around online, I use a different username to protect myself until I find out for sure if what I signed up for is legit. I have no problem with people knowing my actual name as it can be located easily online through several posts, my own website, etc. So no worries!
