Is Your Website Responsive?
"What that means is it adjusts to the size screen your visitor is using, so it looks good on a desktop or laptop and just as good on a smartphone or tablet. The move to mobile browsing is in full swing and it pays to keep up with the new technology. What is your opinion? " |

My site adjusts to the center of the user's screen. They can always zoom out if there's a problem. The only problem I have at the moment with my site is that it doesn't support mobile users. I will have to get on that ;)

You would need to make sure all your games would play well on mobile devices too or what would be the point?

My site is fully responsive on all desktops and laptops. But, it doesn't fully support the mobile version. The links will work and the text is view-able, but the visual presentation isn't nice or organized. The classic view on mobiles don't show some widgets and things.

Were you aware that webs.com does have a fully responsive mobile version? With the cost of hosting down to the $1 a month range, I prefer to use my own domain with WordPress and a responsive theme, so I stay in control.

They haven't taken care of it yet, just grab the right side of your browser window and drag it to the left so it's narrow and most of your site will be off the edge.

You know, the wonderful thing about the truth is, we don't need everyone to agree to make it true.If you spent any time at all searching the facts, the truth would become obvious, but then after looking at your member profile I can see you only want to get in and out so you can have your website shown. Enjoy the traffic.

My website at http://WII-FM.com is responsive and I have several others I will be converting as soon as I get back from vacation. Never the less, I do think it's important to consider.

| Quoted from: member_106663 on 2013-03-19 00:11:56 Well, I understand what it means. But how to find out on different types of screens when you have only your laptop and no access to other types? |
The crude method is to narrow the width of your browser manually. A better option is to use a simulator to see how it should look on various devices, but they are not always accurate.

I try to use a responsive theme for all my sites and my clients if applicable. There is a huge market that is just there using their phones. If your site works, you will gain a lot more attention to your site. My site is http://www.confessionsoftheprofessions.com. Take a look. It's interesting how it works. It doesn't appear to be mobile friendly but turns into a site that is.

| Quoted from: member_339030 on 2013-04-20 17:39:25 Yes! As far as I know and we do quite a bit of testing on different browers, computers and mobile phones. This is a grat question and a very important topic for webmasters! |
You may not have a clear understanding of what I mean, because the site you have here is certainly not responsive. It requires scrolling from left to right as well as top to bottom when viewed on a smartphone. A responsive site automatically reformats to eliminate the left to right scrolling.

I certainly don't have a clear understanding of your response. I use iphone 4s and our site doesn't not require any scrolling left to right. Of course it requires scrolling up and down, as any site with more than a screenful of info would. Can you please elaborate if I misunderstood your response somehow. If you mean that we do not have an official mobile version of our site, that is correct. Thank you.

Ok, thanks for the info. That is not how it appears on my own iphone however. It fits whether I am holding it vertically or horizontally. I appreciate the input though, thank you. And now that I have a taken a look at that web site, I can see what their motivation is in presenting it that way! I have checked some other web sites per their setup and with my own iphone..with quite different results! Anyway, no biggie, everyone has their own marketing methods I guess.

Mine is not currently, but will be shortly. Responsive behavior is an imperative as 1 in 5 clicks or about 20% of web traffic is now from a mobile source. If you use Joomla 3.0 and a responsive template you are all set.
