Kala, First of all, do not listen to the advice of the above poster " Professor" - just a bunch of spamming nonsense on his part. While the SEO basic's are fairly simple to learn ( do yourself) it is also to lengthy to describe in the forums here. A wonderful site for SEO newbies that gives free SEO mentoring in their chat rooms is at http://www.workathomehome.info. There are plenty of seasoned and accomplished SEO's that will guide you and show you how to apply SEO to your site the PROPER way. The site is free, the advice and mentoring is free and the site/chatroom is free.

You need to optimize your website with the right meta tags (Title, Keywords & Description) then you also need to have the right keyword density. Keyword Density is the percentage of occurrence of your keywords to the text in the rest of your web page. It is important for your main keywords to have the correct keyword density to rank well in Search Engines and with your competition. Don't forget too, that good content is very important also.

Hi Kala,The strange thing about the SE's - while there might be 1000's and millions vying for a page one. Most sites do not do the proper SEO ( as Heidi described in her above post - Go Green)so obtaining a good SERP position is actually alot easier than you think. Matter of fact, way to many people go about optimizing their site pages the wrong way or they do it backwards because they want to listen to some old SEO Guru crap that was written in 2000 and they are the ones that make it less competitive. SEO is easy once you learn the basics - takes some work on your part, but you can actually learn everything you need to know and how to apply that knowledge in just a couple of weeks.

Well said. He's all over the place posting the same thing(I don't understand). Anyway, there's a great SEO program you can download for free. It will get you on your way. I have to agree with your statement Peter ! SEO is a constant thing. Even when you learn all the in's and out's, SE rules will change or there is a major algo change and of course your competitors are always trying to out do you, so all that put's you back into the daily SEO chair.
